Carshalton Athletic look to build on their midweek win over Aveley when they face Corinthian Casuals at Colston Avenue on Saturday 15th October (3pm kick off).
The win, the Robins’ first in five league games, was enough to create some daylight above the early season relegation zone. In contrast, Casuals’ loss to Margate on Tuesday night left them rooted to the bottom of the Isthmian League Premier Division, having not won since the opening game of the season against Bowers and Pitsea. Their difficult start to the season, which has included having to relocate home games due to a fallen tree at King George V Field, was further compounded this week when they parted ways with manager, Tony Reid, just a matter of months after his appointment in the summer.
Nonetheless, the form book between the two teams is with Saturday’s visitors. They came out on top in all three meetings between the clubs last season, including a 2-1 win in the league game at Colston Avenue.
One player who figured in those games for Corinthian Casuals was Danny Bracken. Saturday’s match will have added significance for the recently signed Robins’ goalkeeper, who made over 500 appearances in 12 years for the visitors – a landmark to be recognised with a testimonial by his former club at the end of the season.
The current Casuals squad contains a number of ex-Robins. Ben Cheklit is the club’s current leading scorer with five, while Hakeem Adelakun, Eddie Allan and Trey Masikini have also featured for the Robins in past seasons.
