Thomas Tuchel sets new record as he remains unbeaten as Chelsea manager

Tuchel and Chelsea strengthen their top four bid with a deserved 2-0 victory over Everton last night. That is now eleven games unbeaten since Thomas Tuchel joined the blues in January.

The German set a new record, becoming the first Premier League manager to keep five clean sheets in his first five home games. Chelsea have only leaked two goals since Tuchel’s arrival, with him reverting to a familiar back five for Chelsea.

A Jorginho penalty and a Ben Godfrey own goal was enough for Chelsea to secure all three points. Richarlison had Everton’s best chance of the game but failed to hit the target.

A new defensive look under Tuchel

Chelsea look a new side under Tuchel, they have conceded just two goals in eleven games. If there was any question marks on Chelsea it would be their form in front of goal. Tuchel is yet to see his team score more than two goals in a single game. If the points keep racking up however I am sure Tuchel will not mind.

Everton also in the hunt for Champions League football produced a below par performance. The score line certainly could have been uglier if it was not for some good saves from Jordan Pickford.

Kai Havertz was a stand out for Cheslea with a much needed confidence boosting performance for the young German. His first league start since Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Leicester on the 19th of January.

It’s not the first time Tuchel and Ancelotti have faced off. The two came up against each other when they were respective managers of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

What next for the men from SW6?

The games come quickly for Tuchel and his side who will travel to Leeds this weekend in search of another clean sheet and victory. A big rivalry between the clubs and after Chelsea winning the reverse fixture 3-1, Leeds will be out for revenge.

A home tie with Atletico Madrid in the champions league is also on the horizon. Chelsea lead 1-0 on away goals heading into that game and are favourites to progress to the last eight. Chelsea however will be without the suspended Mason Mount and Jorginho, two players who have figured a lot under Tuchel.
