Déjà vu as undefeated Folkestone visit Colston Avenue

[ad_1]

Carshalton Athletic return to Isthmian Premier League action on Saturday 10th September when they face Folkestone Invicta at Colston Avenue (3pm kick off).

Despite the loss of a few key players from last season, including leading scorer David Smith (now with Hornchurch), Folkestone have made another good start to the season. They currently sit third and undefeated with 11 points from their first five games.

However, Saturday’s visitors were also undefeated when they came to Colston Avenue on a Monday night last November. They left with a 5-0 defeat. And while they remained in contention for the playoffs throughout the whole of the season, they eventually fell away to finish sixth and just miss out.

Ade Yusuff, Smith’s main striking partner of last season, who scored 29 goals himself, remains with the club and is one of three joint leading scorers with three goals so far this season, along with new recruits Kadell Daniel and Ibrahim Olutade.

Carshalton have some repair work to do in the league after consecutive defeats over the August Bank Holiday weekend that have left them in 12th place. A 5-1 win over VCD Athletic in the FA Cup last Saturday, in which leading scorer Tom Beere once again showed his prowess from free kicks, should hopefully have restored some confidence.
