Pitching In Southern League Division One South club Wimborne Town have announced the signing of Kaya Tshaka on dual-registration for the rest of the season from Vanarama National League side Eastleigh.
The 18-year-old midfielder was part of the young Southampton squad that secured the Under-18 Premier League South title last campaign, taking a lead over Manchester City in the National final.
He had been in the famed Saints academy from the age of 8 but was released at the end of his scholarship in the summer.
However, the tough tackler signed for Eastleigh, appearing as a late substitute against his former team-mates in a 2-2 pre-season draw between Saints B and the Spitfires’ first team.
He arrived at the Silverlake Stadium with the intention of going into the successful under-19 Elite Development Squad programme, run by Jason Bristow and Luke Hardy.
However, he featured twice in pre-season matches for Lee Bradbury’s senior side and hopes to keep making the right impressions.
Wimborne manager James Stokoe told his club’s website: “We are really pleased to bring Kaya in on dual registration. We had him in for a couple of games in pre-season before he then went on to feature for Eastleigh’s first team and trains with them daily.
“He’s an energetic player who has had a good background in Southampton’s academy, we look forward to seeing Kaya over the course of the season and what he can do with us”.
