Spurs cancel plans to appoint Antonio Conte as manager:

Antonio Conte will not be the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur if recent reports are to be believed. Despite initially being heavily linked with the job, it’s believed a series of demands from Conte has proved to be a stumbling block.

The main issues are believed to be three fold:

  • Issues surrounding salary, with Conte and Spurs €3M apart on their price points.
  • Differences in beliefs over where the club could reach in the next few seasons.
  • Conte wanted to bring in more than 4 members of staff.

This could prove to be a huge blow for Spurs, as Conte is a proven manager everywhere he’s gone. He is also just coming off winning the fourth Serie A of his managerial career, after his successes this season with Inter Milan.

Conte also is a one time winner of the Premier League, which means he’s won exactly one more Premier League’s than Spurs have managed.

If not Conte then who?

It is now believed that former Juventus Chief Football Officer Fabio Paratici will take the director of football job. Paratici has a world of experience in the role, and will be involved in the discussions for the next manager. Right now though, things are looking far from rosy. No manager lined up, star striker trying to edge out a move. It’s a really rough time if you’re a Spurs fan right now.

For a team who finished seventh, and haven’t won a trophy in almost fifteen years it hardly fills fans with excitement and anticipation.
