In each division, the club with the best average points per game is declared the winner.

Clubs must have played a minimum of three games during the month in either a league, League Cup, FA Cup or FA Trophy match to be considered.

Should more than one club have the same best average points per game, then the winner shall be declared as the club with the best goal difference (in league matches) and if that is equal the club scoring the most goals.

PST Sport are the sponsors of the Southern Football League’s club of the month awards for the four divisions.

Each winner receives an engraved glass memento along with a voucher for use with the company.

Winning the first award for the 2022/23 Premier Division Central campaign is Jimmy Ginnelly’s Nuneaton Borough side who averaged 2.5 points per game in August.

Boro struggled to avoid being sucked into the relegation places for much of last season but head into this weekend as leaders, having recovered well from suffering a 3-2 opening day defeat at Leiston to win their next five matches.

The first winners of the Premier Division South award are Weston-super-Mare.

Like Nuneaton, the Seagulls go into this Saturday’s game as leaders, having averaged 2.6 points for August.

Like Nuneaton, Weston started slowly, being held to a 2-2 draw at newly promoted Bracknell Town on opening day, but since then have beaten Gosport Borough, Yate Town, Poole Town, Plymouth Parkway and hammered Harrow Borough 7-0 at the Optima Stadium.

The clubs in Division One Central have only played a maximum four league games, due to the Emirates FA Cup.

Berkhamsted, who pushed for promotion last season and finished runners-up to Bedford Town, only to lose in the play-offs, have started 2022/23 well, with three wins and a 2-1 defeat at FC Romania, whilst also making cup progress as well.

They averaged 2.4 points per game to claim the August gong.

Sholing have had a terrific start to the new season and the Boatmen look determined to make a concerted effort for promotion this time and were deserved first winners of the award for the division.

They have scored 11 goals and conceded only 2 in their four league wins to lead the way and face an FA Cup replay at home to Slimbridge this evening (Tuesday).
