Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club Welwyn Garden City have made two new additions to their squad in an attempt to bolster their form following a disappointing start to the campaign.
The Citizens have added 20-year-old left-sided midfielder Joe Dearman on dual registration with Isthmian League Premier Division side Wingate & Finchley and have signed utility player Jamie Smith.
Dearman, 20, signed for Wingate in August from the Citizens new league rivals Biggleswade Town.
He started his career on the books at Premier League Tottenham Hotspur before joining League One Cambridge United where he played for the under-18s.
He was released at the end of the 2019/20 season and took the opportunity to play in Poland with fourth-tier side Lewart Lubartow in February 2021.
In August 2021, he moved to third-tier outfit KS Lublinianka.
He returned to England in January 2022 and signed for then-Southern Division One Central side St Neots Town before switching to the Waders in March 2022.
Smith, 31, was on the books at another of the Citizens league rivals, FC Romania last season.
He can play either in central defence or as a striker and it is in the latter role that City boss Max Mitchell is looking to employ him.
He first signed for FC Romania in 2020 and also played for Spartan South Midlands League champions New Salamis.
Smith has also spent time at Wingate & Finchley as well as with London Colney, Ware, Colney Heath, Hertford Town, Broxbourne Borough and Hadley.
