Everyone here at WD Sportz can’t wait for the grassroots of football to return, and from today that is possible here in England! Both Saturday and Sunday league football will return in the coming weeks, with many leagues forming into a tournament format due to the cancellation and ‘null and void’ systems employed up and down the country due to Coronavirus.
Above is a photo from almost a year ago, the last time grassroots football was unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hopefully the base of the football pyramid returning will see the best of the weather, with the summer approaching and players roaring to get back into action, with teams resuming training and matches in the coming weeks!
The Essex senior league is putting on a tournament to celebrate the return, and mainly grassroots sides will be going the Len Cordell Memorial competitions.
Tournaments like this will be put on up and down the country by those in grassroots, so make sure to check out your local side when fans can return to games, it may even save their season!
Today, the first game for YouTube side SE dons will be filmed by Puma as they take on UTR, so make sure to check out the highlights from their game later on!
Personally, I will be returning to the oldest ground in the world at Hallam FC for some games as soon as I can, and I can’t wait to get back to some live football. Make sure to let us know on our Twitter where you plan on going when fans can return!
