Gosport Borough suffered back-to-back defeats in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South on Wednesday night after a 2-1 loss to Poole Town at Privett Park.
And following their Emirates FA Cup exit at the hands of Division One South side Paulton Rovers, it’s now three successive losses for Boro.
Gosport’s first home defeat in front of a crowd of 680 saw the visiting Dolphins, fresh from a 5-0 victory over Yate Town last weekend, take an 18th minute lead when Luke Pardoe’s drive crashed off the bar but fell kindly for Wes Fogden to net the rebound.
The hosts tried to find a way back into the game but were unable to dent a determined Poole defence, who then virtually put the game to bed 7 minutes from time when Tony Lee fired into the bottom corner of the net.
Gosport supporters were given some hope when Harvey Rew latched onto a loose ball in the box and reduced the deficit in the 88th minute, but Poole held on to record a fourth win and move above Gosport into eighth in the fledgling table.
The only game in Division One South on Wednesday night saw Paulton Rovers and Willand Rovers draw a blank at the First 4 Pools Stadium, Winterfield Road.
The goalless draw leaves Paulton 10th and Willand 13th in the very early season table.
