Needham Market moves into third place in the early Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central table – albeit maybe only for 24 hours – after a 2-0 win at Kings Langley on Monday night.
It was goalless at half-time at The Orbital Fasteners Stadium, but the Marketmen broke the deadlock on the hour-mark through Ryan Viggars.
And then just 5 minutes later, Viggars grabbed his and the visitors` second to win the points.
Rushall Olympic recorded their third win of the campaign to date with a 3-2 win at the Trico Stadium against a Redditch United side who are fifth.
The Pics got the boost of a goal in first-half injury-time from Sam Mantom to put them in front.
But 7 minutes after the break, Robbie Bunn pulled the Reds back on level terms and then on the hour-mark, Kieren Donnelly gave the hosts the lead.
The Pics were awarded a penalty 15 minutes from time which Tom Thorley duly converted and then in the 84th minute, Mantom pounced to net his second and Rushall’s third to win the game.
The evening’s other game between Hitchin Town and St Ives Town at Top Field finished all-square at 1-1.
The Canaries had to come back from being a 17th-minute Tyrone Baker goal down.
But Finley Wilkinson equalised 7 minutes before half-time to send the teams in level pegging.
The second half saw Hitchin have the lions` share of possession and opportunities without managing to beat Saints keeper James Goff a second time.
