The former Bayern Munich full-back has not featured much for the French champions this season after undergoing surgery on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee.
The 27-year-old has amazingly made a speedy recovery thanks to the help of the club’s medical team who have made sure he bounces back and ready to hit the ground running.
“I hope to be back in February or mid-March,” Bernat said via the Ligue 1 official website. “I believe that everything will work out and I want to stay here for many more years.”
“If I want to sign an extension? Yes, yes. We are talking about the contract, the negotiations are ongoing, but for the moment nothing is done.
I think that will conclude positively. I have always said that I was very happy in Paris, I want to stay here for several years.
But it is also true that I would like to play again, one day, I don’t know when, in La Liga. It is the league of my country and I have not been able to enjoy it that much.”
