Horsham 2 Lewes 0: MATCH REPORT

[ad_1]

Tom Kavanagh’s magnificent free-kick put the seal on Horsham’s fourth victory of the season, and their fourth in five home games against Lewes, to move into second place in the Premier Division table.

Dan Ajakayie provided the Hornets with the perfect start when strike partner Jack Mazzone took advantage of a defensive error to set up his team-mate for a 9th minute tap-in, with the hosts going on to dominate much of the first half proceedings. But it wasn’t until five minutes before half-time that Kavanagh converted his sublime set-piece to give Horsham a deserved two goal cushion.

Lewes were more threatening in the second half, and were perhaps unfortunate not to be awarded at least one, possibly two, penalties, but Mitch Beeney was rarely troubled and, instead, it was the Hornets who came closest to adding to their score when Tom Richards’ curling cross came back off the bar.
