The Pitching In Southern Football League wishes to express their sincere condolences and that of its Member Clubs on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Further to this morning’s statement by the Football Association, all National League System, FA Trophy, and grassroots fixtures scheduled for this weekend, Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of September 2022 will not take place as a mark of respect to the Queen, the FA’s patron, and The Duke of Cornwall & Cambridge, FA President.

The FA Competitions Department will communicate with clubs who would have participated in FA Trophy fixtures regarding their rescheduling.

Currently, fixtures are planned to go ahead from Monday 12th September onwards, although we understand that no sporting event of any kind will be allowed to take place on the day of the Queen’s funeral, which is yet to be announced.

The decision to cancel this weekend’s fixtures was taken in accordance with FA protocol, in consultation with DCMS as the appropriate government body. It is a decision which the League fully understands and supports.

Should further statements from DCMS or the FA be made, we will relay these to you, together with any implications any announcements may have for our Competition.

Any clubs with queries arising from the above should contact the League Office in the first instance.
