Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South club Beaconsfield Town were victims of an Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round replay upset on Monday night.

The Rams drew 2-2 at the Elmbridge Sports Hub against Isthmian League South Central Division newcomers Walton & Hersham on Saturday, so began the replay at Holloways Park as favourites to host Chatham Town in the next round.

The Swans, promoted as runners-up in the Combined Counties League Premier Division at the end of last season, are a famous name from their amateur days – winning the FA Amateur Cup in 1973 – but haven’t been above Step 4 level since 1996 and spent the last six campaigns at Step 5 level.

However, after a goalless 90-plus minutes, it was extra-time and maybe even penalties that was needed to separate the teams.

But with 5 minutes of extra-time remaining, Ollie Twum – on as a 66th-minute substitute – broke the deadlock and Beaconsfield supporters` hopes, with the decisive goal, keeping his composure from just inside the area to beat Ravan Constable in the home goal.
