Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central club Ilkeston Town have announced that manager Martin Carruthers’ contract has been cancelled by mutual consent.
Carruthers took over in November 2019 and guided the Robins to promotion from the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands as champions earlier this year.
Assistant manager Wayne Hallcro will also be leaving the club.
Carruthers previously enjoyed great success as Basford United’s manager, guiding the club to five promotions before taking over at Quorn in May 2019.
He left them in second spot to move to the Microlise New Manor Ground.
The former Aston Villa, Hull City and Peterborough United striker was also known to Robins fans having played for the club between 2006 and 2008 and also worked under Nigel Jemson assistant manager.
Chairman and owner Dave Hilton told the club’s website: “I wish to thank Martin for his hard work and success at the club, a particular highlight being the league title win last season.
“I have huge amounts of respect for him as a person and a coach and I wish him the best of luck for the future. The same applies to Wayne to whom I also express my thanks”.
