Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has been sacked.
The news came on Monday morning and is as follows:
“The Club can today announce that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been relieved of their duties.”
Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy, said: “Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a Club.
“Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged.
“He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution.”
Mourinho took charge of Tottenham in November 2019, taking over following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino.
Last season, Mourinho guided Spurs to a sixth place finish and Europa League football however, this season has been a challenging one for Spurs.

They currently sit seventh, with one win in their last five, five points off the top four.
Despite this, Spurs face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, aiming to win their first major trophy since 2008.
The European Super League
However, poor form may not be the only reason for Mourinho’s departure.
Last night it was confirmed that Tottenham would be a founding member of the European Super League (ESL).
It has been rumoured, that Mourinho refused to take training this morning in light on the new competition
The tournament has been put forward to replace the Champions League and looks set to have major ramifications across Football.
UEFA and domestic leagues such as the Premier League have threatened to ban players and clubs from their competitions, potentially permanently.
Additionally, it is confirmed that the 12 clubs will be paid a total amount of £3.5 Billion, which could be a factor in the sacking, providing Daniel Levy with the money to sack Mourinho two years before the end of his Tottenham contract.
Ryan Mason will take charge of the club until June.
