Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has slammed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Spurs.
Mourinho claimed that if he behaved in the same was as his German counterpart, he would receive worse treatment.
The incident in question is from the end of the first half, where Klopp approached the fourth official.
What did he say?
Mourinho commented: “If I behaved the same way he does on the touchline, I’ve no chance. I’m out in a minute.
“Do you want me to take the board with the time out of the fourth official’s hands and see what happens to me?
“I’m saying that for some reason, I’m different. That’s all I’m saying.”, he told Amazon prime.
Additionally, after Roberto Firmino’s late winner for Liverpool, the two rivals came to blow’s once again.
“I told him the best team lost, he disagreed, but that’s his opinion.”
However, in terms of stats, Liverpool dominated possession and shots taken, as well as shots on target.
Despite this, Mourinho continued: “We were so close to winning, not so close to a draw. We had chances. We had the game under control. A draw would be a bad result in relation to the performance, so you can imagine how we feel with a defeat.
“It was a very good performance. Of course there were things to improve, but it was a very, very unfair result.
“We played the champions in their stadium and we deserved to win. The team was brilliant.”
Spurs had their chances throughout, with Steven Bergwijn hitting the post mid-way through the second half.
Mourinho’s post match comments drew some criticism on social media, with Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold captioning a twitter post “Best team won.”, A direct dig at Mourinho.
Liverpool’s victory last night elevated them to the top of the Premier League table, leapfrogging Spurs, with 28 points from 12 games.
Liverpool now travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday, whilst Tottenham face Leicester at home.
