The Curfews secure a vital win away at Marlow, courtesy of a William Montague penalty.

Montague’s penalty early on secured all three points for Chertsey Town as they leapfrogged Marlow, up into third. However, the game was overshadowed by two red cards as Marlow’s Jordan Brown and Chertsey Town’s Quincy Rowe were both dismissed within two minutes of each other late on.

This fiery encounter in the South Central Isthmian Premier League saw third place take on fourth. The game lived up to expectations, with a clumsy challenge from Marlow’s Elijah Oladunjoye inside the penalty area only 14th minutes in. This presented the chance for Montague to capitalise on the error, which he did, emphatically.

The two promotion chasers cancelled each other out, limiting chances with both goalkeepers having little to nothing to do, both relying on the goal frame to keep shots out.

As they approached the business end of the game, both sets of players, coaches and managers grew hatred towards each other. Between the 76th and 78th minute, Rowe and Brown both saw red.

On top of this, an altercation outside of the dugouts resulted in the referee showing four red cards to staff members on either team.

The Curfews hung on to claim the three points, despite a late flurry of chances for The Blues. Marlow aimed to take a point, with the game opening up as both sides went down to ten men.

Chertsey Town are up to third, whilst Marlow have dropped down to fifth, one point ahead of seventh. The Curfews have Felixstowe & Walton United at home on Tuesday, whereas Marlow travel to Hanworth Villa on Saturday.
