Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled himself out of the running for the Germany national team’s vacant manager job. This decision has come in the wake of current Germany manager Joachim Low’s decision to step down after this summers European Championship.
Klopp – A Bookies Favourite
Jurgen Klopp’s statement comes in the wake of him shooting to the top of the favourites for the position. Klopp was firm on his stance that he would not be in the running for the job stating “I have three years left at Liverpool…You sign a contract and you normally try to stick to that don’t you?”.
This news will bring some solace to Liverpool fans, that despite the haphazard season they have endured, their manager will still be there for the 21/22 season.
Despite Liverpool’s poor start to 2021, they still find themselves within touching distance of the Champions League round of 16. Jurgen Klopp’s side will host the home leg of their fixture against RB Leipzig Wednesday evening, going in with a two away goal lead.
However, despite the home advantage, the game will be played at a neutral venue in Budapest due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Perhaps this break away from Anfield for a home game will improve Liverpool’s record after losing all five of their home games so far in 2021.
What’s next for Germany?
For the German national side, Jurgen Klopp ruling himself out has not affected the current plans. Joachim Low will still be manager for the European Championships after over 15 years in the job. However, a new favourite has emerged as Germany U21’s head coach Stefan Kuntz has topped the bookies’ odds.
One thing is for sure, after the Euro’s German football will have its biggest shakeup in over a decade.
