Is Kylian Mbappe the best player in the World?

Is Kylian Mbappe the best player in the World?

It’s a tough question.

The debate over the best player in the World has many different arguments and viewpoints.

The obvious answer is no. Players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo deserve the crown of being the greatest in the World.

Mbappe however, is the best of the next generation.

What is especially clear after his hattrick in PSG’s 4-1 demolish of Lionel Messi’s Barcelona on Tuesday night, is that Kylian Mbappe is a special talent, and clearly one of the best in the World.

Mbappe is considered amongst a select group of Talented individuals. Individuals who many believe will lead football’s next generation of superstars to the forefront of the World’s greatest game.

These fellow players include talents such as Erling Haaland, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ansu Fati and Joao Felix. All of whom stand out in some of Europe’s best teams.

What separates Mbappe from all of them, is his ruthless consistency and his maturity beyond his age, along with his sheer talent.

Take last nights game against Barcelona for example, up against one of the world’s biggest clubs, perennial contenders in the Champions League, at the Nou Camp – which is daunting place to go, with or without fans – and Mbappe just took it all in his stride like it was nothing.

Mbappe didn’t let the occasion bother him, and why should he? After all he’s played in, and scored in, a World Cup final. His confidence was on full display throughout, even more so after his third goal of the evening, PSG’s fourth. After an excellent finish, he jogged away towards the corner flag, arms outstretched, without so much of a smile on his face. Simply looking back at his team-mates, as if to say ‘so what’.

At just 22-years old, Mbappe has won all that has been available to him, apart from the Champions League.

He has won league titles, domestic cups, even a World Cup, but all that eludes him is that Champions League crown.

If he can power PSG to a Champions League, which has been a long targeted ambition of the owners. Then there will no longer be any argument that can deny Mbappe a place among the World’s best.

A place that he thoroughly deserves, and a place he will hold for a long, long time to come.
