Nicky Ironton is back in management at Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club Walthamstow.

Ironton, a subject of one of the league’s `My Life in Football`, was most recently with Welwyn Garden City, where he led the Citizens to a Division One Central play-off position last season and was on course to do the same in the Covid-affected 2019/20 season.

Prior to that, he managed at Ware, and had two spells at Arlesey Town, where he oversaw three successive Isthmian League promotions.

He also took the Bedfordshire side to the First Round of the FA Cup and had an excellent run in the FA Vase.

As a player, he is a former England semi-professional international midfielder who enjoyed a glittering career winning two Conference titles and an FA Trophy with Enfield and a third Conference crown with Barnet, having begun as a professional at Queens Park Rangers.

This will in fact be Ironton’s second spell with the club, having played for them during the 1990/91 season.

Two of his newest recruits for Stow are defender Richard Platt and goalkeeper Brad Robinson.

Platt, 25, re-joined then-Southern Premier Division Central side Banbury United in early November 2021.

He signed for Vanarama National League South club Welling United in July 2019 having been on the books at the likes of Belgian giants Anderlecht, the now defunct Rushden & Diamonds, Banbury United, North Leigh, Kings Langley, Bedford Town, Gloucester City and Hednesford Town.

He spent the 2018/19 season at Southern Premier Division South side Chesham United and then now-Northern Premier Division One Midlands outfit Bedworth United.

Robinson joins Stow from league rivals Ware.

He had moved to Wodson Park ahead of the 2021/22 season.

He joined Ware from Essex Senior League side Cockfosters.
