Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young, Aleksander Kolarov. Not just the names of former starters in Manchester, but now at Inter Milan, they are Serie A championship-winning players. The Milan side secured their first title in over a decade after fellow chasers Atalanta failed to beat Sassuolo on Sunday.
Forza Inter with four games spare:
Inter have remained far and beyond the best side in the Serie A this season. So far this year they have won the most games, lost just two, conceding the least goals and have scored the second most.
A team that combines class on the pitch with the managerial expertise of Antonio Conte, they truly have been a sight to behold this season. Last season they may have fallen just one point short of lifting the title, this season however, there was no such mistake. Where last season the title was decided on the last day, Inter instead have wrapped up the trophy in stress-free fashion with four games left in the season.
After ten years of Juventus domination in the Serie A, Inter lifting the title is a welcome change. A team containing players deemed not good enough by other sides, the road has not always been easy for Inter.
It remained a close battle between them and bitter inner-city rivals AC until the latter began to fall away in mid-February. After that however, the title became a one-horse race.
With tough games against Roma and Juventus left, for Antonio Conte’s men it is now about finishing in style.
