Vanarama National League club Yeovil Town have snapped up highly rated midfielder Will Dawes from Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central side Stratford Town.

The 21-year-old, who is studying for a degree in politics with economics at Loughborough University, had joined the Bards in October 2020 from league rivals Coalville Town having only been with the Ravens since June 2020.

He was signed on a two-year scholarship by League Two side Cheltenham Town after starting out in non-League football with Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Tuffley Rovers.

He then moved up to Loughborough University to study and played for their side in the United Counties League Premier Division North as a stand-out performer during 2019/20, scoring 12 goals in 32 games.

Stratford chairman Jed McCrory told his club’s website: “Ok we have had three interested parties in Dawsey and he chose to go to Yeovil, as it is close to his family home. We are saddened to see him go but delighted that we have moved a player on to a higher level again.

“Dawsey has been a delight for the few years he has been here and improved beyond belief.

“He deserves his chance to move up the leagues and I believe he will be a League One player quickly due to his desire and ability.

“Dawsey shows everyone at Stratford Town and players in the community, join Stratford and see what can be achieved.

“We are all so proud of Dawsey and sad we won’t see him on a Saturday but never say never as we strive to get to the National League ourselves”.
