AC Milan and Turkey midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is set to join Milan rivals Inter Milan in a sensational switch.
According to Sky Italy, Calhanoglu will join on a free transfer and will sign a three-year deal with the Italian champions.
Inter have reportedly offered the Turkish international £4.3 million over the term of his contract, plus bonuses – which better’s the terms that AC have offered the player.
With his Milan contract close to expiry, the 27-year old had been linked with a variety of clubs. Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and a host of Premier League clubs were reportedly linked to the player.
Calhanoglu will return to Milan on Monday following Turkey’s disappointing Euro 2020 campaign, which saw the so called ‘dark horses’ of the tournament fail to pick up any points.

In the 2020/21 season, Calhanoglu scored four goals and provided 10 assists as AC Milan as they finished second in Serie A behind their rivals – thus returning to the Champions League after seven-years away from the competition.
Transfer’s between rivals are rare, and this is the same in Inter and AC Milan’s case. However, transfers between the two aren’t unheard of.
The last transfer deal between the two sides came in 2012, where a swap-deal between the two sides took place.
Inter Milan player Giampaolo Pazzini moved to AC Milan, with Antonio Cassano plus £7.5 million moving the other way.
