Tomas Soucek scored a hat-trick as Czech Republic beat Estonia 6-2 in a World Cup Qualifier. Soucek’s Hat-trick inspired the Czechs to come from behind to dominate the game.
Since arriving at West Ham in January 2020, Tomas Soucek did not take long to win over fans in England. Soucek first came to many clubs attention as he captained Slavia Prague to a Europa League quarter-final in 2019.
Tomas Soucek played over 100 times for Slavia coring 31 goals, he also has 31 caps for the Czech Republic. Soucek initially joined West Ham on loan before the Hammers made the deal permanent by paying £19 million for the midfielder.
Little was known about the big Czech certainly amongst West Ham fans when he first arrived. Scoring twelve goals in 42 games has certainly helped him become a fans favourite over the past 14 months.
Czech mates at West Ham
Soucek also had a big part to play in the signing of Vladimir Coufal. Coufal a fellow Czech international signed for West Ham last summer for a fee of £5.4 million. To have signed both Soucek and Coufal for less than £30 million is certainly a great business for the West Ham owners.
Despite Tomas Soucek’s great season for West Ham this season he showed more of his capabilities for the Czech Republic this week. His first International hat-trick takes his goal tally for this season into double figures.
The 26-year-old has impressed this season and with the way in which he seems to be progressing there could be a few clubs looking to take Soucek off West Ham’s hands in seasons to come. Despite this, West Ham coach Stuart Pearce has said he is “not going anywhere”. The midfielder is key for both West Ham and David Moyes looking at the long-term vision for the club.
Next up for Soucek and Czech Republic is a home tie versus a strong Belgian side tomorrow night. The Czechs will end the international break with a third World Cup qualifier in six days against Wales in Cardiff.
