Tottenham Hotspur will face Fulham instead of Aston Villa on Wednesday night, as Villa continue to battle a Covid-19 outbreak.
The outbreak, which made Villa’s first team to miss the FA cup fixture against Liverpool, has forced many of the first team to isolate.
As a result, the Premier League have organised a reshuffling of fixtures.
Tottenham were originally scheduled to face Fulham on December 30th. Only for the game to be postponed due to Fulham’s outbreak of Covid-19.
So, due to Aston Villa being unable to fulfil this Wednesday’s fixture, the Premier League have moved the London derby to Wednesday.
What has been the reaction?
It is rumoured that Fulham are said to be unhappy with the change.
They were only made aware this could happen after Saturday’s 2-0 FA cup victory against QPR (Source: The Athletic).
That game went to extra-time, which is hardly ideal just day’s before a Premier League game.

What now?
The knock on affect of this change could affect at-least four sides.
The Athletic reports that Fulham’s West London derby against Chelsea, originally scheduled for Friday evening, will be pushed back to Saturday.
Furthermore, Chelsea’s game versus Leicester, on Tuesday January 19th, will be moved back by one day.
Covid-19
Covid-19 has continued to keep Premier League officials on their toes.
The Premier League announced 40 positive tests between December 28th and January 3rd, a record high.
The postponement of Villa vs Spurs marks the fifth time a game has suffered that fate due to Covid-19.
Teams such as, Aston Villa, Fulham, Sheffield United and Newcastle, have all suffered outbreaks at the club.
Additionally, Southampton saw their FA cup third round fixture versus Shrewsbury town postponed. Thanks to an outbreak for Shrewsbury.
