I read a very interesting article recently about climate change and the effects it is having and you will be surprised how much of an impact it could also have on the non league pyramid over the next 30 years.

Blundell park is the home of Grimsby town, it has been for 123 years but according to an eco friendly supplier of  photo ID products , the cleethorpes based stadium is the most likely ground in the professional game to disappear beneath the waves following their in depth data looking into sea levels & higher rates of precipitation.

The next 4 most likely are Southampton, Hull city, Ipswich Town & Norwich City.

You will be amazed to know that by 2050 25% of the grounds in the professional game are at risk of at least flooding in an annual basis.

This made me wonder how many non league clubs across the pyramid face flooding or indeed their whole ground falling into the sea it must run into 1000s and is definitely food for thought as well as yet another hurdle that cash strapped clubs with ever dwindling committees & support face.

Accrington Stanley, Port vale & Rochdale will all be pleased to know they are far enough above sea level whilst the top three safest clubs are in 3rd place Birmingham city, 2nd Wolves & the safest in the whole country West Bromwich  Albion.

It looks like in years to come you will see flooding and diving but not through the turnstiles or on the pitch like we are normally used to and whilst this may go down like a damp squid there may actually be that and other sea life lurking in the dressing rooms.
