Welcome to WD Sports’z brand new section which is a daily roundup of all the news around football on a specific day. It won’t just be all the mainstream football news which is seen everyday, everywhere and we will fill you in on the latest non-league news as well (which is our passion and what we are all about).
Southern League Division One South club Melksham Town have signed experienced striker Felipe Barcelos. Barcelos has experience in England with clubs such as Oxford City, Banbury Utd, Bracknell Town etc as well as playing in the Italian fourth division with ASD Santhia. He’s a superb addition who will hopefully bolster the Melksham strike force considerably.
Former Manchester United defender Tyrell Warren who was on trial at Chester FC signs for Boston United. Warren progressed through the ranks at Old Trafford to reach the under-23 set up before being released in the summer of 2019, then joining League Two Salford. This should be a very interesting signing for Boston and he could be a key figure for them this season in the National League North.
In a ground breaking move for a non-league football team, Dereham Town has announced a partnership with a domestic abuse support charity. This is huge as domestic abuse is rarely talked about and people are oblivious to it so with Dereham Town putting this at the forefront of their kit this will open a lot of peoples eyes to the situation.
Leeds Utd join forces with non-league Farsley Celtic to provide football pathways for youngsters. This new collaboration will provide exciting opportunities for elite students within the games programme.
Some positive news for Tonbridge Angels who play in the National League South as they have received funding from the Premier League to help them return to competitive action.
York City bring in former Leeds Utd , Doncaster Rovers and Harrogate Town player Michael Woods. Woods joins his boyhood club and will be a very smart signing for York with his experience and ability.
Lastly for non-league, the National League fixture lists will be released tomorrow afternoon at 1pm so keep an eye open for them.
Other football news:
England duo Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden could be set to face disciplinary action from the FA after reportedly being caught bringing girls back to their hotel room in Iceland, breaching quarantine rules in the process.
Foden though, has broken his silence in this tweet which can be seen below:

Lionel Messi has finally returned to training after the feud with Barcelona which has been ongoing about his future for a while. I’m sure this is not the end of this and it may still continue to get ugly.

Ryan Fraser joins his former teammate Callum Wilson as he becomes the second player to move from Bournemouth to Newcastle in less than a week. Two really good pieces of business from Newcastle who have raided the relegated side for potentially their best players.
Another great piece of business is from Everton as they sign Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez for £22m. Rodriguez will join his former coach Ancelotti who managed to get the best out of Rodriguez when managing Los Blancos. Everton fans will be hoping for the same result with this big signing.
Brighton and England defender Fern Whelan has sadly announced today that after a long hard battle with injury that she would not be able to continue playing with immediate effect based on medical advice and she’s retiring at the age of 31.
Lastly, Newport County continue their signing spree as they sign Swansea City youngster Brandon Cooper on a season-long loan deal. The defender is one of many new faces and will hopefully contribute this season towards reaching their objectives.
We hope you enjoy this new section and any feedback or advice will be greatly appreciated and taken onboard. We will be back again tomorrow with more daily news.
